My personal theory: The world leaders and generals wanted Joji to build radioactive weapons for wars and world domination. But the catalyst for the weapons are the purple crystals in Sanctuary that can only be found in space. Therefore, Joji was tasked to build a spaceship to space. But deep down Joji never wanted to help the world leaders to succeed, so he kept being rude towards his co workers and even injured them on purpose, hoping they would quit the job and abort this mission. But somehow all of them stayed and eventually finished the spaceship. When the day has arrived for take off, Joji had no other choices but to take his own life together with his greatest invention ever so the world leaders would never achieve world domination. The world looked at Joji as the bad guy but he was the only good guy that knew the truth. Thank you guys for your time :) GIMME GIMME LOVE

Theory connecting Run, Sanctuary and Gimme Love: "Gimme Love" is the beginning. It's the real world, his origin. He starts out as a college student, studying, writing papers, excited about calls and offers. He rises up, becomes an office worker, build leadership, raises to a scientist, and starts on a huge project. He is a leader, with a lot of stress and possible anger issues. Eventually, his research leads to the deaths of multiple people on his team. The blood coming from eyes, ears and noses is from exposure to radiation or chemicals, and the torn apart person you saw was someone who got caught in the machinery due to a lack of safety precaution. He feels responsible, as the one who ordered them all to do it. The one who came up with the plan. His final destination is finally complete - he made his rocket. However, he enters alone, because he is the one that created it. He didn't want anyone else to get hurt or die because of what he's made. He's probably also been exposed to the radiation/chemical, which might be sending him a bit crazy. The rocket is a failure - possibly predicted by him already. However, he does not die from this. Somehow, he's still alive, but in a coma. "Sanctuary". This was a dream, incurred by his coma. A happy dream, where he is successful in space with a team and a mission. It's what he wanted. Sanctuary's story is about how the team has already defeated their main enemy, and they're left with no goal or mission. And so, to create one more adventure for the team one of the members betrays them to become their enemy. Yadda yadda - main component being, its a coma dream about being happy in space, where he studied about being all his life. "Run" His coma condition takes a turn for the worse, and he is dipped into a place between life and death. A slim place - the drowsy version of himself represents death, and the one who run towards the light is his will to live. He runs toward it - people, possibly from his past? Try to drag him back, away from the light. He reaches the light, and breaks through. He is out of the danger zone, away from the dip of life and death. His real world body is in stable condition again. However; he is only greeted by an endless wasteland. There is no escape from his coma - he's stuck there. At the end of "Run", he returns to his coma dream in the space ship of "Sanctuary". However, his team is now gone - dead or otherwise, he is now alone. He is presented with a package, with items from the real world. Items that represent a memory - a field trip? Pieces of his life outside the coma. Hints to who he was. The audio in the background is a doctor (and possibly an acquaintance) conducting the Glasgow Coma Scale. Lines such as "Wake up. How do you feel? Please hold." are lines from the doctor, steps to conducting the coma scale include asking the comatose patient questions and testing their capabilities (such as physical, verbal, auditory, etc responses). The noise in the background is possibly a ventilator. However, in terms of upload order, "Gimme Love" is him finally coming to reflect on his life as a flashback. In the lyrics, he says how badly he wants to get out (of his coma in this case), but he can't get over someone. Or in this case, "you" refers to his past self, and how he can't come to terms and move on from his past mistakes. And so, he is trapped in his coma until he can learn to move on, or accept something. This is all I have for my theory for now, but I think from Joji's suit in "Run" and the car picture at the end this time line could also be connected to "Test Drive" and "Slow Dancing In The Dark"/"Can't Get Over You", but I'm not sure how yet. I'm also not quite sure how the people in the limo in "Run" connect to the storyline. If anyone has things that conflict the theory or anything that could possibly add, please tell me and I'll go through and edit it if it fits!! I'd love to know other theories too

theory: all the recent songs he’s released are a trilogy. it starts with this, he’s on earth and seemingly happy until everything starts to fall apart and he sees no way out of it. he understands that if he leaves, that’s the best way for him to get love, because he will be a legend and people will only notice him if he has left. then, it’s sanctuary. he finds himself in space, is happy with his friends, has people who actually seem to care about him. he is ready for what comes next, and he is ready for something real. lastly, it’s run. the loss of his friends from sanctuary has sucked him dry, and he feels like he has nothing left. he doesn’t feel like he’s enough because nobody is there to tell him so. also, it’s interesting how there is a repeated theme of the robotic voice asking him how he feels. it seems as though this part is a commentary on how people will ask how other people are, but don’t really care. it’s programmed into us, and we can’t change it, but it’s definitely there.

So this is where I am at now: TEST DRIVE: The beginning. Joji is first represented as a crazed lunatic with mental problems caused by the loss of a woman he loved that did not love him back, even after all that he did for her. We can see the clip takes place in a desert. This setting must be kept in mind as it will be an important piece of lore to the whole story. The car is equally as important, as it will play a role at the end of the music video, Run. Gimme Love: Happens after TEST DRIVE. We see Joji working as a space engineer for a space agency (maybe representative or even CEO of the company). As we can deduce from the clip, things don't seem to be going according to plan for the agency and Joji. Visits from military reps put pressure on the whole department to work harder and to be on schedule for launch. This stress takes a toll on Joji. He starts to murder people (probable employees and workers) around the facility to "cope" with his anxiety, and his crazy side (first introduced in TEST DRIVE) now starts to resurge out of himself. So as to not get caught, Joji decides to make a run for it and boards the rocket to fly away from all of his problems. At the end of the video, we can see Joji hesitating between ejecting from the spacecraft or to engage onwards into the cold void of space. I think that we can safely say that he decided to engage, as Sanctuary dictates. Sanctuary: Sometime after the events of Gimme Love, Joji, now hero and captain of a Starship, has made several friends, some appearing human, others supposedly aliens, confirming that in the universe in which Joji lives in, other life forms other than humans exist. In this arc, we learn that Joji and his crew used to have an arch-nemesis (possessing an artificial eye) with whom they would fight, which in turn gave a purpose to both parties to exist. But soon after Joji kills the big baddie, the crew don't have anymore saving and fighting to do, rendering their life bland, boring and meaningless on the ship. Every day passes with the crew sitting on their asses contemplating their past adventures and what it would be like to have a life with a purpose again. Joji's best friend, a human, can't take the depressing ambiance anymore and decides to sacrifice himself to become the new enemy by modifying his appearance to look like the team's past enemy by scooping out one of his eyes with a spoon and then proceeds to attack the crew's starship. With the crew now having a purpose to exist again, Joji and his crew can now have amazing adventures again, with the lone consequence of having to lose and fight a past friend. Run: Joji wakes up from a nightmare, where he dreamt of the desert from TEST DRIVE, which correlates to him having a lust for his past love, who did not love him, as the song suggests. The song's title also hints at the events of Gimme Love, with Joji having "run" away from his problems back on Earth. Upon waking up, we can see that Joji is inside of the hull of the spaceship that is shown in Sanctuary, only there is a key difference between both settings: The crew has disappeared. Joji is alone on the ship, with only an automated voice to keep him company. Joji proceeds to pick up a car key and a picture of a car parked in what is probably the desert from TEST DRIVE from inside of a folder with "MADE IN HOLLAND" stickered onto it. This part of the clip is probably telling us that Joji is either looking for the car (hence the car key he is holding) or looking for his past love. I still do not know how the "MADE IN HOLLAND" sticker connects to the whole story but I have searched up deserts in the Netherlands and I discovered that the country hosts the largest sand drift in all of western Europe. Maybe the desert depicted in TEST DRIVE and in the picture at the end of Run may be the sand drift. To finish off, Joji then walks past a wall with a picture hanged on it, depicting a photo of the entire crew posing for the shot, accentuating, even more, the disappearance of the said crew. Edit: Thank you all for supporting and adding even more to this crazy theory that I'm trying to come up with. I can't believe it has only been a few hours and I already have 1K likes. This means that people agree with what I came up with, so I appreciate it! I've been working on this theory since the release of Run, and some of you even shed light on other music videos that could fit into the lore of Joji's ever growing universe, like how CAN'T GET OVER YOU could actually be the true beginnings of the whole story, because in the song, he is expressing how he can't get over his love for a woman that he met. Good stuff guys, and keep going!

Theory: It's a story of a young eccentric scientist discovering and inventing a warp drive apparatus utilizing questionable business practices and harmful materials funded by the military- in the end he hijacks the craft instead of letting them have it, it's his creation, his responsibility, fuck the people who think they own the product of his genius. In the end there is the moment of Truth, the power cycles and he has two options, eject or engage the warp drive for the first real test. If you look closely, he pressed engage. He can't let go. He has to see it through to the end, so all the sacrifice can be worth it or it can be over.

Joji at first starts his own project, a rocket in his backyard. Then he presents his project as we see in the video and the government hires him. When he starts working, the hazards of the job result in multiple deaths and accidents that the government covers up. As we can see, joji is not ok with this, that's why he starts acting so angry and knocking over stuff. As joji goes up the military ranks, shown in the video wearing different uniforms, he realizes the government's corruption. In the end, he goes to the rocket alone disobeying orders because he doesn't want his rocket to be used wrongfully by the government, he created it for good. When he finally flies into space, he is given the option to eject or engage. He engages, and becomes a hero, as seen in the Sanctuary music video.

Gimme love: Hardships on earth so he escapes to space without a plan. At the end of the video, after he pressed engage, the ship is damaged, and probably unable to do anything with alarms blaring. With him drifting in a broken rocket through space, the crew from Sanctuary probably saw him and rescued him, where he eventually became their captain with all of his earthling knowledge. Sanctuary: he’s found his place in space away from earth but has found new hardships and has to face them. Run: a nightmare he has about how he escaped from earth. I think that the person he’s referring to in the song when he says that they didn’t love him and so he’ll just run, I think that person is actually himself, and how he was acting when he was still on earth. At the end of the run video, he wakes up and goes to a folder he’s kept as a memory of earth, then casts it away as he stands there in the space ship.

I feel like this video shows a man who keeps harming people around him for his own selfish needs, however at the same time asking for people to love him. If you slow down the fast pictures at the beginning you'll see him hurting people or causing people to bleed for his wanting to rise up, but also see him looking lost or sad in what I think not being able to feel loved. Eventually I think he comes to the realization if no one will love him he might as well leave Earth. I would like to think that maybe hes also leaving to prevent himself from harming people. This is just my interpretation from the video. I'm very proud to see Papa Franku grow up to this melancholic master piece of an artist. Edit:Actually the video follows along very much with the song with the lyrics "gimme love when I'm gone" implying that once he leaves maybe they'll learn to love him which is giving me filthy frank frank vibes, however I'm not stating but implying that it's a song about filthy frank. To add on during the launching scene the lyrics follow "would you keep up with me" maybe in a sense asking, would you still follow me even if I'm another complete persona. Even asking "when I'm far too gone would you show me love". Ending with "Everyone's looking for someone to hold- but I cant let you go" maybe as a reference to people not letting him forget that he started of as frank and or pink guy

Theory: He just want to live his dream as an astronaut but then peoples not gonna let than happen and turn him down. He got depressed and broke the rules to fulfill his dream alone. Now, in the mv of Sanctuary, he landed on a planet (i guess) and met some guys but then those guys turn into a villain. In the mv of Run, he is running from those who's holding him back but in the end, he is still on track. Also on the ending of Run, you can hear someone saying "Wake up, wake up" and as well as in the teaser of this new song. This means that Sanctuary, Run, Gimme love have a correlation on each other. Maybe new album that features space or alien something. Edit: I must add the cover art of this song, a spoon with dripping liquid. Maybe that spoon is the spoon that he used on Sanctuary? I guess so Edit2: at 0:13 look carefully. Remember that ending scene from Run where he wakes up? (go watch it and go to 3:33) Looks really similar right? Again, addition. The lyrics "You leavin me here, with ashes and fire", also correlates on Run where he constantly turning into ash (those black lines is his face)

Connecting Run, Sanctuary and Gimme Love Disclaimer: This is a long one so if you are really interested please continue reading :) Joji was a student studying astronomy and was always interested in space. Therefore, he wanted to be an astronaut and work among the best of the best. How he imagined his life as an astronaut was like the video Sanctuary. He wanted to explore the space with a crew, make friends with aliens, go on adventures together and even fight his imaginary arch nemesis together. The purple crystal you see in both Gimme Love and Sanctuary plays a big role so keep that in mind. The crystal in Sanctuary is simply just some sort of trophy for decoration, thats how Joji wants it to be in his imagination. But in reality, which is Gimme Love, the crystal is a catalyst for radioactive weapons that can dominate in wars. Therefore, when Joji became an astronaut in reality, he found out his job is not as how he had imagined but rather to build weapons for the government. Because of this, Joji hated the job that he had worked hard for and started to have serious anger issues caused by stress. His mental state is no longer stable and became cold blooded, starting to hurt his co workers just to release his anger. And heres where it becomes weird so stay with me. Before Joji and his crew aboard the spaceship to space to retrieve more of that purple crystals, here is where Run happened. Run is basically Joji coming to his senses what he is doing is wrong. In the video Run, you can see Joji looking dead, looking like he was a puppet to someone like the illuminati, the supremes. You can see a bunch of rich people in suits and dresses in the limo (they represent the illuminati/ people with power). Joji waking up and starting to run represents that he finally knows that hes being used by the elites to achieve world domination. As Joji was getting closer to the end of the limo, the people in suits started to hold him back and fight him because hes winning his morals back. At the end, Joji fought through it and got to the light. And the "wake up" you hear at the end of Run was basically the wake up call for Joji. And now we go back to Gimme Love, Joji is woke and went on to sabotage their mission to space by leaving his crew behind and board the spaceship alone. The only way to end this was to end it all. He destoryed the spaceship (the one and only ride to space) with himself together so that the illuminati (world leaders) would never get what they wanted, physically and mentally. The civillians in the video looked at him as the bad guy but he was the one that saved them all after all :') As conclusion, there is no prequels or sequels. It is a whole in one. Thank you for your time :)

My take on what the song is about: He is portrayed as an individual who is frantic and distanced at times yet wishes to be social with everyone. However, this does not work out for him as he sees everyone he gets close to eventually ending up hurt, that is why we have the thematic of blood. He wishes to express himself freely however he is told what to do and this causes him to break at moments yet stick himself back together and continue working. The first part of the song is fast just like him going through life and he knows that the only way to escape this is for him to reach peace in the cosmos where he can be alone from everyone, cut to the second part of the song that is exactly what he reaches by building the rocket and escaping. The song is a morphing into a slow dance of peace of mind which comes along once you endulge the loneliness.
